Five United States Navy ships have bore the name "Badger" either exclusively or in part. For more details regarding the Badger namesakes please visit the namesake page listed in the task bar to the left under "Ship & Crew ". Following is a list of the five USS Badgers listed in reverse order.

  • The 5th Badger (USS Badger DE/FF-1071) was commissioned in 1970 and was classified destroyer escort (DE). She was reclassfied as a fast frigate (FF) in 1975. Her primary mission was Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW).

  • The 4th Badger (USS Charles J. Badger DD-657) was a destroyer commissioned in 1943. Also active during World War II she received five battle stars for World War II service.

  • The 3rd Badger (USS George E. Badger DD-196) was a destoyer commissioned in 1920 and was likewise active during World War II. She received the Presidential Unit Citation as a unit of TG 21.1.4 and eight battle stars for World War II service.

  • The 2nd Badger (USS Badger DD-126) was a destroyer commissioned in 1919 and active during World War II. She received one battle star while operating with TG 21.12.

  • The 1st Badger (USS Badger), originally commissioned as an auxiliary cruiser named Yumuri, was purchased by the U.S. Navy in 1898, renamed USS Badger and then used in the Spanish-American War.
